Oak with spalted beech (clear finished) & stainless steel

Height 228.5cms x width 122cms x depth 61cms

Designed in celebration of the oak tree and associated Celtic runic lore ~ oak symbolising that we should not seek to know our fate, whilst beech’s runic meaning symbolises a threshold or crossing point.

The carved Green Man looking down from the tree tops represents the spirit of all green, growing things.

A spalted beech ‘step’ leads to the first oak door, which is made of pippy oak, cut to highlight the curves of the wood.

Timothy Hawkins’ ‘makers mark’ wooden acorn covers the back of the keyhole & is also incorporated into the escutcheon of the bespoke metalwork, co-designed with a sculptor blacksmith.

Opening the outer door activates an interior light, revealing a hanging rail shaped to give the appearance of a branch and a 'faux' door at the back of the wardrobe’s interior.

This second door (which has a lidded shoe-storage ‘step’ in front), cannot be opened as tree lore tells that we are not meant to know in advance what lies beyond.
