Sometimes, you just have to let go and give in to the grandeur and grace of the classical style. While the idea of the European classical style may be somewhat foreign to Malaysian architecture, it is a bold and powerful way of standing out from the crowd and identifying yourself as someone with much broader and more international tastes.

Unlike minimalism and, to a certain extent, modernism, which both deal in reduced spaces, the classical style is like an explosion of ornately carved items. From intricate chandeliers to well-designed dining room chairs, all of the rooms in the article below seem to have been crafted with care and precision by professional designers. That's not to say that minimalism and classicism don't share similarities. Both trade in the same colour palette, and both go for open spaces with plenty of light to give them life. However, if you're feeling more indulgent, classicism is the way to go.

So come along, and get inspired on how to achieve your classicist home. Once you share these pictures and consult with an architect, you'll start down an amazing path of class and grace. Simply look below to take your first steps.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the grandest of them all?

This living room perfectly captures the spirit of a classical home. The room is large, which is definitely helped by the choice of colour palette. The light floor and wallpaper, which is beautifully designed, give the whole place a very airy feeling, as if you were on a cloud. One of the major factors that helps in bringing about this feeling are the large windows that bathe the room in plenty of natural light. And when the sun sets, the ornate chandelier and intriguing metal lamp in the corner do their best to illuminate the room.

While also a great source of light, the chandelier is also an intriguing art piece, and will no doubt spark many a conversation. Despite being a primarily classical room, bits and pieces of modernism seem to sneak in. Luckily, these two things match up masterfully, preserving the whole feel of the room. On the more classical side of things, both the armchairs and tables match up with the tone of the room, while also mixing in a some darker shades in order to ground the room. The cherry on top comes in the form of the large mirror, which helps expand the room even more, and offers a nice point of self-reflection.

Classy cooking

While not as large as the living room, this kitchen gives up space for functionality. While having a smaller kitchen means that less people can fit in it at once, it also means that everything is close by, meaning that you can be twice more effective. This is made even easier by the L-shaped counter, which eliminates any need for movement, meaning that your favorite dish can be done in seconds.

And thanks to the very modern equipment in the kitchen, not only can you make food quickly, but it can also be incredibly delicious/healthy. While the oven sticks out with its silver sheen, it's light enough that it falls in line with the rest of the palette, which is a variation of the one seen in the living room. To give it it's own identity, the kitchen adopts tile patterns. The black and white floor is far more relaxing, and offers up a great contrast to the dynamic black one that encircles the working space. While leaning more towards modernism, this room manages to keep the classical spirit alive.

Fine dining

Whatever you end up making in the kitchen, the end results will be enjoyed here. Not really deviating from set colour scheme of the previous rooms, the dining room still manages to maintain its own personality. Much of this lies in the bookshelf and cabinet, both standing guard over an area.

The bookshelf offers a great little corner to dive into, and forget about the worries of the world, thanks to a really good book. And what's a good book without a nice place to enjoy it? The wooden armchair goes hand in hand with the shelf, thanks to their matching colours. The armchair is in a great spot, as it can get plenty of sunlight from the windows, while also maintaining communication with those sitting at the table.

The main ensemble is a great combination of modern metalwork and classical spirit, creating one great looking place. The light brown table is just enough shades off to stand out, and during the evening, the lights directly shine upon it, making it the centre of attention. The cabinet next to the table pairs up beautifully with it, and also manages to inspire that great classical feel. Thanks to the right kinds of flourishes, this is a place to remember.

Eclectic dreams

Bedrooms are some of the most personal spaces on the planet. It is where most of us go to relax and let our guard down, knowing that this is a safe space. And because this room holds such a special place in our heart, people tend to decorate it in a way that reflects their own personality. This has a tendency to make the bedroom a bit eclectic, and nowhere can you see a better example of this than in the picture above.

The thing that should immediately jump out at you is the classical dress stand, that has been draped in modern clothes, showing off the mixing of the old and the new. Near the window, we can find a collection of postcards, beautifully stacked to fully display all those past memories. There are also pictures on the mantelpiece, and yet all of these are probably eclipsed by the elephant painting above the bed, which mirrors the content of the picture in its pillows. This synergy creates an amazing dynamic, and sets the tone for the room.

However, animal imagery isn't the only thing the bed and picture share. The colour palette is also similar, with the red providing a comfy, warm feeling to the whole place. With the rest of the tone being mainly white, it's the red, followed by the black and gold mantelpiece, that really steal the show. All of the colours are of course helped by the glass doors, which invite a bit of nature into the room. While it may seem eclectic, it is also a perfect representation of a person, and with a few tweaks, this room can become you too.

Tiling away the days

The bathroom is always the room that tries to differentiate itself the most. And it usually does this by choosing a style that has appeared before, but takes it to a whole new level. Here, the bathroom takes on the tiles of the kitchen, creating an incredibly dynamic scene which is immediately appealing. The main reasons as to why the bathroom is usually different is this: the whole area gets wet, meaning that you need a wallpaper that can stand up to that, and the bathroom isn't one of those places that you hang out in.

That's not to say that you can't relax in here. This bathroom especially, is great for relaxing, thanks to the bath/shower combo, in which you can rest after a long day at work. The rest of the bathroom is also up to date, and aims to provide the most relaxing cleaning experience ever. The washbasins are slightly raised, making sure that as little water as possible escapes, and the large mirror and cabinets below it, ensure that multiple people can use this place. Thanks to the multiple tile variations, this room is just as unique as the rest of the home, ensuring that you won't ever get bored.

If you're happy with the overall design, but feel like you might need to make a few minor modifications, this article will assist you in doing just that with the sofa. Match it to your personal preference to properly express your inner artist.
