Some homes have pools, some homes don't – others have modern, updated kitchens, others don't. But one thing that every home in the world is guaranteed to have in common is walls This can make them a universal interior design trend and make the ideas varied, accessible and affordable.

Whether you want to stick to a simple application of paint, or the construction of a beuatiful parition, the options available to you in order to update your walls are unlimited! Below we have twelve wonderful options in order to add texture to your walls – take a look!

1. Wood

During the 1970s, wood paneling was a popular decorative motif. We would like to leave that in the 70s though, and opt for more tasteful and modern wooden walls like pictured here!

2. With bricks

If you're lucky enough to have brick walls in the interior of your home – leave them be and expose them to their maximum potential! Great for rustic and industrial-style homes, brick walls can easily match almost any style or theme.

3. Metal finishes combined with wood and nature

Metal on walls? Yes please! Metals can bring a great reflective and metallic quality to your room and when combined with more natural elements, the balance can be quite nice – just ask any interior designer.

4. With a vertical garden

If you've perused through homify, you've noticed that the vertical gardening trend is everywhere these days. These paneled vertical gardens are a great way to bring the outdoors, in.

5. With natural stone

A bit higher on the price scale, natural stone will make your living room cosy, memorable and be great at maintaining a climate-controlled environment in those hot summer months.

10. Plasterboard

Better for use on partitions and dividers, plasterboard is light and easy to install. Plus, it can also add texture in various colours, depending on the design you choose!

Why not add a partition in the bedroom? Here are some great bedroom walls you'll want to copy.

11. Divide environments with style

12. Textiles

With a simple trip to a local fabric store and some stuffing, you can easily transform any wall into a decadent centrepiece in a room. This works particularly well in bedrooms for a cosy and luxurious feel.
