Located on the outskirts of the village of Hunucmá, this home, designed by PORTO Arquitectura + Diseño de Interiores, is a space where the man-made relates, effortlessly, with the natural environment; and where the colours of landscape come together with the colours of the home to create a vibrant composition. The colonial style home rests idyllically in the gardens and the scene is about as picturesque as they come!

Colour isn't the only ingredient in the design, texture, too, is employed in the contrasting woods and natural fabrics. The result is a cosy space that is ideal for forgetting the daily bustle of the city; a place to rest and relax.

Now, let's wander through the home and appreciate its tranquillity and freshness!

Brights and pastels

See what we mean – it's an absolute dream! The pastel pink is a just a shade away from the earthy paving stones. And, that canary yellow is a vibrant and striking contrast. Against the clear blue sky and the lush greenery, it's an absolute feast for the eyes!

Beneath the portico

The beautiful portico structure encasing the front verandah establishes a space that is neither entirely exterior nor entirely interior. In occupies an in-between zone, a threshold of sorts. From the shade, one can enjoy the experience of being in nature without having them hot summer sun beating down on them.

A new colour is incorporated into the scheme: bright orange! It's bold and lively.

This is definitely a home for outdoor living. For more in this vein, take a look at these balconies, porches and terraces.

The sitting room

Now, let's step inside. The interior is a little more low-key after the kaleidoscope of colour and the simple but striking geometries we saw on the exterior. Off-white walls keep the room cool, and the space is sparsley furnished with beautiful antique-style furniture.

The bright orange tiles do, however, pay homage to the bold orange we saw on the portico structure and the cane furniture is the epitome of tropical living.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen, too, dons a bit of orange. This space, even more so that the last, has a slightly dated quality.

If you're after something a little more contemporary and a whole lot more minimal, you may like to take a look through the myriad of minimalist kitchens that we've compiled for you here!

Back to the exterior

Now before we close the book on the tour through this colonial abode, let's finish with the best: another shot of that charming exterior. The simple geometric form, the repetition of the arches, the bold colours with delicate white trimmings; it's a recipe for success The colours have an air of femininity about them that is utterly charming.
